Race dates: 15th - 17th February 2013

The Marrick MTB Challenge 2011 Race Format

The Marrick MTB Challenge for 2013 is essentially a Team event with individual entries accommodated so as to allow all riders the opportunity to race.

Overall Winners prize money (cash) will in 2013 go to the winning team in the Men's and Ladies Teams or Mixed Team (that is to say if the Mixed Team is faster than any other team and qualifies as the overall winner) that complete all three stages in the shortest time overall.

Individuals will only receive their category prizes, even if they win overall. This change has been brought about as we want to encourage riders to ride as teams for various reasons, namely, sportsmanship, safety and greater participation in general.

Competitors do not require seconding as the race will provide full support between the start and finish lines on each stage. There are sufficient water tables and Scott service centres en-route to assist riders and cater for their nutritional needs

Friends or family who are there to support and second you have a few rules for them to adhere too:

  • Seconds will only be allowed to second you in the official spectator points.
  • No outside assistance for mechanical problems other than by another competiitor or Scott mechanic

Should you be considering bringing along family or friends to support you and the other riders at official spectator points, then they need to take note of the following:

On the 1st day there is one spectator point besides the start and finish.
Day 2 will have 3 points

Day 3 will have 2 spectator points

Besides friends and family experiencing the event and offering support the countryside is scenic and there are other things to do like tram rides, game drives, tourist attractions like the Big Hole, historic tours, etc.
